Non-Credit Asian Language Courses FAQs

We offer a diverse range of Asian languages to suit your interests and goals. Our language courses include Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Hindi. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to advance your proficiency, we have options tailored to your needs.

Registering for our language courses is easy! You can either follow our step-by-step registration process on our course schedule page or register directly on our convenient online registration portal. We’re here to help you embark on your journey to language proficiency and cultural exploration.

Our non-credit language courses are conveniently scheduled in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate the busy schedules of our participants. We understand that balancing work, family, and other commitments can be challenging, so we strive to offer flexible options that fit your lifestyle. 

No prerequisites are required for our non-credit language courses. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some prior experience with the language, our courses are designed to accommodate learners of all levels. Simply bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn, and we’ll take care of the rest!

In addition to language proficiency, students attending in-person classes enjoy complimentary parking, making it convenient to attend sessions without worrying about parking fees or availability. Furthermore, our courses provide a platform for networking with fellow students who share a passion for Asian cultures and languages. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to engage in cultural events organized or sponsored by the center, further enriching their understanding and appreciation of Asian heritage. It’s not just about learning a language; it’s about immersing yourself in a vibrant cultural experience. 

The textbooks for our language courses are carefully selected by our instructors to ensure they align with the course objectives and teaching methods. At the beginning of the class, instructors will share the selected textbooks with students, along with curriculum or lesson plans. This allows students to prepare and familiarize themselves with the course materials, ensuring a smooth and productive learning experience. 

Unfortunately, no. Our language courses are designed for adult learners and are not eligible for high school or college credit. However, we welcome high school students who are interested in exploring Asian languages and cultures to participate in our non-credit courses and cultural events. It’s a great opportunity to broaden their horizons and engage with diverse communities.  

Our language courses are taught by experienced and knowledgeable instructors who are passionate about sharing their expertise and fostering a supportive learning environment. Specific instructors may vary depending on availability and course offerings; however, rest assured that our instructors are dedicated professionals with a deep understanding of the languages and cultures they teach.
